Tim Binkley

Tim Binkley’s career as a scientist, communication specialist, writer and teacher spans more than 30 years. He has been a professional geologist since 1977.  As an explorationist and researcher in the petroleum industry and a consultant, technical writer and editor in the environmental industry, he has authored hundreds of reports covering a variety of environmental sub-disciplines. He is currently employed as a geology instructor at Forsyth Technical Community College.

For seven years Tim served as Program Coordinator for the City of Winston-Salem’s Brownfields environmental technician training program under the auspices of the United States Environmental Protection Agency. He was charged with responsibility for recruiting, training and placing graduates in the environmental services industry and developing employer networks and community partnerships. He has presented to regional and national audiences on the topic of environmental training and program development and served as a facilitator, mentor and consultant to other U.S. cities on the subject. He continues working with dislocated workers as a career transition coach.

As a communication consultant and writer, Tim has provided interviewing, script and speech writing to corporate and institutional clients and has been published in regional and national publications on such varied topics as opera and incremental productivity improvements through constraint theory management. He has written corporate bios, developed navigational logic and written content for large web-based projects.

Since 1999, Tim has been a student, co-facilitator, and creativity coach in The Artist’s Way, an internationally acclaimed book and program designed to help students identify and remove blocks to creativity. Tim is a performing musician and a photographic artist who has worked as a photography instructor and exhibited photographs in national juried exhibits.
